A new art project charts HIV growth in metro Atlanta

Matthew Terrell, a 31-year-old artist, writer and HIV activist, is the brains behind a new piece of public art designed to bring awareness to the ever-growing HIV population. The sculpture, displayed on a hillside at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, features marquee-style digits that will be updated weekly to reflect the ever-growing number of HIV-positive people living in metro Atlanta. The number started at 30,162 when the sculpture was installed and has already been updated to 30,190. CONTRIBUTED
